Cl*sterf*ck on September 2nd by Mike Piontek

Thursday, August 03rd, 2006 at 08:48 PM

On September 2nd, Tense Forms proudly regrets our end of summer Cl*sterf*ck. Featuring the debut screening of Beach Asshole starring Mark Benson, new art produced exclusively on canvases forced upon the artists, and music by groups formed randomly for this one night event, all capped off with a headlining set by Where the Moon Came From. Click here for more information and a picture of an airplane crashing into a dancing woman with some sort of strange insect and/or peacock for a head.

800 Winters is coming soon to Chicago. It’s a showcase featuring 25 visual artists, 5 musical artists, and a short play. We’ll celebrate Radiant Darling‘s new release, Cryptomnesia. Marika Mashburn and Chris Matthews of the House Theatre will perform Mashburn’s new play frost. There will be art all up over the place.

It’ll be awesome. Seriously. It’s Saturday, January 28th at the Subterranean. Stop by the site for more information or get your tickets online now.

New Newsletter and Newsletter Archive by Mike Piontek

Tuesday, January 03rd, 2006 at 10:56 PM

Soon we’ll be sending out our January newsletter, and you’ll notice quite a difference from our past newsletters. From now on they’ll be much much nicer to look at and read, including pictures of our latest releases and more links throughout. (If your email program doesn’t display HTML, don’t worry… A plain text version will automatically display instead.) Sign up now to make sure you don’t miss it!

We’ve also added a newsletter archive in case you’d like to check out our past newsletters, or you’d just rather look at them in your web browser. It’s weird to look back and see how far we’ve come… Thanks everyone for helping to make Tense Forms such a success in these five short years!

New Tense Forms iCalendar

Thursday, September 08th, 2005 at 10:54 PM

Those of you that subscribe to our iCalendar will want to know that it has moved and improved. Click here to subscribe to the new iCalendar. Unlike our old calendar, which was only updated a couple of times a week, this new calendar is always up to date.

For those that don’t know, iCalendar is an excellent open calendar format that’s supported by many applications including iCal, Outlook, Sunbird, and Mozilla Calendar. Thanks go to DreamHost for being one of the few web hosts to support WebDav, a technology that lets you publish and subscribe to calendars over the web.

Tense Forms moves to DreamHost

Monday, August 15th, 2005 at 05:26 PM

Pardon the mess! We’ve switched servers to DreamHost this weekend. Most things should be back to normal now but you may find a quirk here and there. Don’t hesitate to let us know!

We were quite happy with our old host, 8-95.com, and I would still recommend them to anyone, especially if you have a smaller site. We have a ton of songs on our servers though, and we go through quite a bit of bandwidth at times. With DreamHost’s current specials, they’re a much better fit for our needs.

DreamHost also has some great referral programs. If you sign up there and enter the promo code 25TO50OFF, you’ll get $25 off if you pay monthly, or $50 if you pay a year in advance. Even better, a bit of your payment will be donated to Tense Forms. You save money, we save money, everybody wins!

Tense Forms Summer Showcase

Thursday, June 16th, 2005 at 09:36 PM

Our big summer art, music, film, and dance party is coming up on Saturday, July 2nd! Just $8 for a full evening with 5 bands, 3 poets, 2 filmmakers, and 17 visual artists. Get all the details on the Tense Forms Summer Showcase here.

Tense Forms Store Updates

Sunday, April 03rd, 2005 at 08:27 PM

We now have Tense Forms t-shirts available at the store. They’re charcoal American Apparel shirts, with the Tense Forms logo subtly hand-printed in rust-colored ink.

In addition, all of our music releases are now available in MP3-only format at half the price. Of course if you like, you can still buy the physical release and download it in MP3 format as a free bonus.

You’ll also find some subtle changes throughout the store and the main site. You can now search the store, and we’ve made downloading the songs you’ve purchased much easier. Finally, there’s a new font-size switcher in the upper-right corner, if you’d like to view the site with larger text.

Tense Radio 1.5 Released

Monday, February 28th, 2005 at 07:37 AM

The new Muted Tones is brought to you via a brand new version of our Tense Radio music player. We’ve added a volume control in case you don’t want to fiddle with your system’s volume. Your settings are now saved transparently; no more extra little popup windows! And most importantly, we’ve reworked the streaming so that the songs play sooner and are less likely to be interrupted.

You will also be asked to choose the audio quality the first time you use the new player. We highly recommend the HI-FI option! On a broadband connection, songs will load in just a second or two, and they’re near CD quality.

Please take a moment to tell us what you think!
